User Guide - SSO Smart Launch with Clever (BETA)

What is SSO Smart Launch?

SSO Smart Launch allows district administrators to automatically generate launch links for products in their Clever libraries. Once generated, SSO Smart Launch links are visible throughout their organization’s product library, public product library, and individual libraries. SSO Smart Launch links can be used in addition to custom launch links.

If you would like access to this functionality, please contact a LearnPlatform representative, such as your Customer Success Manager.

To generate your SSO Smart Launch links:

  1. Go to Settings > SSO Smart Launch.
  2. Click on the SSO Smart Launch tile under Organization Settings.
  3. Select “Clever” from the SSO Provider dropdown.
  4. Enter your Clever District ID and click Generate.

  1. Your SSO Smart Launch links will begin to generate below. Once links are generated, they will be visible throughout your organization library, public product library and individual libraries.

To remove your SSO Smart Launch links:

  1. Go to Settings > SSO Smart Launch.
  2. Click Remove beside your SSO Provider selection. This will remove all SSO Smart Launch links throughout your organization library, public product library and individual libraries. 
    1. If a product has a custom launch link, the custom launch link will become the default after you remove your SSO Smart Launch links.

All SSO Smart Launch links are verified for accuracy at the time they are generated and each night. You can see the status of your SSO Smart Launch Links in the table on the Settings > SSO Smart Launch page.

Link verification is intended to bring awareness to a potential issue with the launch link that may prevent educators and/or students from accessing the product; however, it is not intended to diagnose the issue.  

Link Statuses:

  • A green check mark indicates the link is working properly.
  • A red exclamation point indicates the link is returning a 400 or 500 error. 
    • If you see a red exclamation point next to your launch link, it is recommended to visit the link to verify the link is still broken. If the link is broken, please reach out to the SSO Provider for assistance.
    • Once the link issue has been resolved, you can manually update the link status on the Settings > SSO Smart Launch page or wait until the link status updates during the nightly verification.

SSO Smart Launch Default Settings

On the Settings > SSO Smart Launch page, “Set as Default” dial will automatically be selected for Clever because we currently only offer SSO Smart Launch for products in your district’s Clever library. In the future, we plan to offer SSO Smart Launch for other SSO Providers, and you will have the ability to select the default SSO Provider that will show across your organization’s library.

SSO Smart Launch Settings for Individual Products

To change the default launch link for an individual product:

  1. Quickly access the product settings page (Management > Products > Product Settings) by clicking on the Product Name from the SSO Smart Launch link page.

  1. Change the default selection from custom launch link to Launch with Clever.
    1. If a product has a custom launch link, the custom launch link will remain the default selection when SSO Smart Launch links are generated.
    2. If a product does not have a custom launch link, the SSO Smart Launch Link will become the default automatically.
    3. Click Save Settings.

FAQ’s & Best Practices

Can I generate SSO Smart Launch links for a different SSO Provider?

No, SSO Smart Launch links only work with Clever products at this time. In the future, we would like to add to additional SSO Providers.

I added a new product to my library, but I don’t see the SSO Smart Launch link.

When a new product is added, the SSO Smart Launch link will generate during the nightly check.

When should I generate my SSO Smart Launch links?

SSO Smart Launch links can be generated at any time, but it is recommended to generate your SSO Smart Launch links after most or all products have been added to your library.
